Who we are

Stories of ordinary madness. It takes more than a mug, of madness, to jump into the adventure of fine craft-beer production. After years of experience and testing within the walls of our homes, in May 2015, Francesco Puma and the young winemaker Vincenzo Leone, decided to leave the cozy, small, home production site, to give life to what is currently the largest Sicilian artisanalbeer-making industry. The name of the beer Chinaschi, plays on the Sicilian dialect "chinaschi" ,literally meaning "with the nose”, and the famous alter ego of Charles Bukowski, with the “C” in place of the final “K”, that with his urban story-telling inspired us to create a beer that could tell a story itself. Chinaschi was born with the intent of valorizing our land, because it is beautiful and productive. What binds together all the various products, is indeed the exaltation of “Trinacria”, the Sicilian pride that is reflected in the various types of Chinaschi beer. In fact, the company uses native antique grains sown within our own pavilion. It's all done here, in a hundred square meters, day by day, with a growing passion and great care; because those whom have sown those good grains, are the same people that drink up “Chinaschi”. The distinctive trait of all the beers of Francesco Puma’s company, is the close bond with the Sicilian territory: scents of grain, citrus, bread, floral notes. All of which are distinctive traits of the Sicilian tradition. In short, when drinking Chinaschi’s beer, you breathe, smell and taste Sicily at its finest. One of the goals of the Chinaschi brewery is to spread the culture of artisanal beer within the south of Italy and eventually, the entire country. The core of our mission, is the desire to raise the name and colture of Sicily to the highest standards of other European regions, already well known for their beer-making skills. To tight up its bonds with the local territory even more, Chinaschi Brewery has created the very first "Italian Grape Ales" in 2017 (literally beers with wine). In these amazing products, the protagonists, in addition to native grains, are the wines produced by native Sicilian vines; in the specific: Grillo, Catarratto and Zibibbo. “Chinaschi”, and you know what you breathe
